How to use
- Enter a file name and the column names, separated by commas.
- Type one item per line. Start a line with # to begin a new sheet. Use | or a tab to fill the next columns.
- Download the .xlsx and mark rows in the Check column (O, V, ✔ or 1).
- Upload the filled file to preview it with the checked rows highlighted.
An Excel checklist is still the easiest way to hand a list to someone and get it back filled in: an inspection list, an equipment inventory, a packing list or onboarding tasks. This tool builds that workbook from plain text. Type the column names, list one item per line, and download an .xlsx file whose first column is a Check column ready to be marked.
A line starting with # begins a new sheet with that name, and a tab or | splits a line into the next columns. Values that read as numbers are saved as number cells. The file uses a 10-point font, row height 17, a yellow, centred header row and a centred Check column; the Check column is 6 wide and the other columns size to their text (full-width characters count double), between 8 and 60. Sheet names follow Excel rules: at most 31 characters, [ ] : * ? / \ replaced with _, and duplicates numbered.
To read a filled file back, upload it. The tool looks for a Check header in the top five rows of each sheet (Check column names in all 10 site languages are recognised), counts a row as checked when the cell has any mark other than X, ×, ✕, ✗, N, No, 0, False or -, and highlights those rows. The Check column holds text marks, not Excel checkbox controls. Workbooks are built and read in your browser with SheetJS 0.18.5; nothing is uploaded.
